The "AQUATORY" set of equipment for the environment water pollution control provides the parameters' monitoring of water, bottom soil, near-water free air layer in river, lake or sea water area within the patrolling region for hunting and detecting the pollution sources by means of continuous sampling and analyzing of soil and water probes from different levels, television supervision of bottom areas, underwater hydraulic engineering works and coastal slopes and remote sensing of the water surface.

The "AQUATORY" equipment includes:

  • the towed submersible vehicle for monitoring of water condition of the near-bottom layer by the measurements at the depths up to 50 meters and continuous sampling and taking aboard water probes;- the subsystem for the parameters monitoring of water purity of the near-surface layer at the depths up to 2 meter, similar to the above-mentioned subsystem by the structure and the purpose;
  • supersonic probing system of the water thickness for foreign matter de tecting;
  • remote controlled underwater unit:
  • a device for water sampling from near-bottom layer during vehicle mooring;
  • a system for bottom sampling during vehicle mooring;
  • monitoring system of radioactivity in near-bottom and the near-surface water layer, near-water ambient air and picked out bottom samples;
  • the water surface remote sensing devices for the detection, identification and localization of oil films and oil pollutants;
  • remotely radio-controlled aircraft with the set of equipment for the water surface video shooting - -hydrochemical subsystem for analysis the presence and identification of contamination;
  • data processing center with preparation ecological GIS charts of the particular area of water according to the composition of contamination, forming of the bank of data.

Outboard submersible subsystems remaining on the chosen depth, measure and process the following parameter's values of the water condition: temperature, conductivity, hydrogen ion exponent (pH), dissolved oxygen concentration, oxidizing-reducing potential (Eh), specific radioactivity.
Onboard the vehicle, the water and soil samples are analyzed to find out the presence and identify the following contamination: heavy metals (Zn, Cu, Mn. Fe, etc.) , anions (fluorides, chlorides, nitrates, nitrites, phosphates, etc.), dissolved organic compounds and oil products (dissolved and in the form of films).
The measurement range is 0,1-10 MAC. The measuring instruments and the methods of measurements are certified.

MAIN PARAMETERS OF PATROL SHIPS

The ships are equipped with modern communication and navigation equipment. The navigation is provided with up-to-date satellite navigation (Navtex receiver. GPS navigator), radar, gyrocompass, emergency position indicating radio beacons, the autopilot and computer maps. The watch crew consists of two members: a navigator-ship- mechanician and a helmsman-motor-mechanic. The total quantity of the staff is defined by the ship-owner depending on operations. The team of the ecologists attending to the complex system «Aquatory» consists of:

PROJECT 16220 PATROL BOAT

The boat is a two-screw one-deck catamaran with a stern-situated engine-room, a circle-type superstructure and a wheelhouse in a bow. Displacement of boat is 54,6t Navigating area includes rivers, lakes and ports, which are classified according to the Russia Rivers' Register as the"O"-category ones, falling into inshore sea areas with secured depths more than 1,0 m. Class of a boat is "O Onp" Tanks' capacity allows to be filled with fuel and lubricants in amounts enough to support the work for the period of twenty-four hours. The full fuel supply in case of continuous sailing at the full speed provides the navigating range not less than 600 km.

The vessel's speed in calm deep water is 40-42 km/hr. at the roughness force 3 it is 36.2 km/hr. at roughness force 4 it is 34.0 km/hr. The main dimensions of a patrol boat are:

PROJECT 23107 PATROL SHIP

The ship was designed as high speed twin propellers catamaran. Materials for hull and superstructure are aluminum and magnum alloys. The vessel was designed in accordance with Russian Marine Register of Shipping based on a dynamic support low. Its class is: KM О [2] A3. Also the ship meets the requirements of ГМО code for high-speed craft DE 37/25 (draft resolution MSC 36 (63), March 1994 yr.).

m41The navigating area includes coastal waters (internal seas, confined seas). The distance from shelter ports is about 100 miles. Tanks' capacity allows top filled with fuel and lubricants in amounts enough to support the work for the period of 5-7 days. The vessel allows to be exploited in beat ice with thickness of 2-3 cm. Displacement of vessel is 105t. Maximum speed of vessel is 25 knot. A ship is equipped with two engines. Power of each of them is 915 kW. Fuel consumption is 90 kg/hr

Accommodations for a crew are comfortable. Rooms for work and recreation are equipped with air conditioners. Three single-seated state-rooms and four two-seated cabin with reserve sleeping places, kitchen, bath-room, toilets are at the ship. The ship has a computer center, hydrochemical laboratory and information center with full capacity of accommodating up to 20 people.

Some technical solutions of the environment pollution monitoring system are patented. Some systems and devices of complex can be used for various mobile or stationary environmental pollution monitoring purposes. For example, a car can be used as a carrying base for "Aquatory" equipment set. Ships which have displacement more than 20t can be equipped with "Aquatory" equipment set. A set of underwater measure sensors worked and provided permanent measure and registration of water environment parameters in the 39 Russian Antarctic expedition during a year without maintenance. Some devices of the "Aquatory" equipment set were demonstrated at various international exhibitions such as "Environment-90" (Tallinn) "Environ-ment-91" (Donetsk) "Large City Environment" (St.-Petersburg) "World of Environment" (Moscow), etc. "Ecopatrol-1" patrol boat was successfully demonstrated in European conference of ministers of environment in Aarhus (Denmark) in June 1998.
The ship environment pollution monitoring system has reciieved a Silver medal at «Eureka'94» international exhibition in Brussels. Henry Ford European environment protection competition of 1995-1996 has resulted with getting 2-3 award by environment pollution monitoring ship. Some developers of the system have recieved the Russian Government Award in 1995year.
